With a background in law enforcement since 1989, Salvatore Bonaventura has dedicated his life to public safety and security. He brings to Poly Prep decades of experience as a NYPD officer and was a member of special task force crime investigation units. He has also used his expertise in the private sector where he provided armed protection for the safety and well-being of dignitaries and high-profile individuals.

Sal joined Poly in 2016 as Associate Director of Security/Fire Safety and in 2024, became Director of Security. In his role, Sal oversees and implements all safety and security operations across both Poly Prep campuses including fire and lockdown drills, pupil transportation and logistics, emergency response, campus surveillance, risk management support, asset protection, and supervises more than 15 security guards, among other responsibilities. With the safety of the Poly community always at front of mind, Sal has earned and maintains multiple safety and emergency-related New York state and city credentials, licenses, and certifications and is always seeking to improve protocols and procedures. He also fosters positive relationships with the security team and enjoys collaborating with colleagues to build a positive, safe environment for all.
